The software for modern machine shops

We served as Wayland's 0→1 design partner for two years, working closely with industry partners to understand how a machine shop actually runs, from quoting a job to tracking. What started as a focused sales tool grew into a full operating system for machine shops: quotes, work orders, purchasing, shopfloor management, and more. Wayland was acquired by Fulcrum in 2024.

Quoting is where a machine shop wins or loses the job, and it involves pricing work no off-the-shelf tool understands: materials, machine time, tolerances. We built a quoting system tailored to how shops actually price jobs, so quotes go out faster without guessing at margin.

Once a quote turns into work, it becomes a client relationship and a stream of orders that need tracking. We designed a unified view of clients and their work orders, so shop staff can see a job's status, its history, and who it belongs to without switching tools.

Machine shops run on billable hours down to the job and the workstation. We built time tracking that ties directly to work orders, so labor costs roll up automatically instead of getting reconstructed from paper timesheets at the end of the week.
