Redesigning the Teacher Dashboard for Estonia's leading school platform

eKool is Estonia's leading school information platform used by hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, and parents to manage grades, attendance, lessons, homework, and communication all in one place. We were brought in to redesign the Teacher Dashboard for V3, working across multiple sprints to modernise the core experience that teachers use every day.

The heart of the redesign. We designed the dashboard across multiple views Single Day, 3-Day, and Week giving teachers the flexibility to see their schedule at whatever resolution suits how they work. Key interactions were designed in detail: Add Lesson/Homework, Search (⌘K), Journal Interactions, Whiteboard Interactions, Schedule Interactions, Dark Mode, and Reorder, all built to make the daily teaching workflow faster and less fragmented.

Creating and editing a lesson needs to feel fast and structured. We designed the add/edit flow to cover the full range of what a teacher needs to specify subject, class, content, and resources in a form that doesn't slow down the moments between teaching.

Assigning homework is one of the most frequent actions a teacher takes. We designed the homework flow to be quick to trigger and easy to configure, attached to the right lesson, visible to the right students.

Assessments required their own dedicated flow creation across V2 and V3, with clear versioning designed to support the range of assessment types eKool handles without overcomplicating the interface.

Scheduling events alongside lessons on the same calendar. We designed the event flow to fit naturally into the broader dashboard experience without requiring a context switch.

The journal is where teachers log what happened in each lesson: notes, observations, content covered. We designed the journal experience to be easy to enter in the moment, with journal section components that stay consistent across the platform. An "edit journal modal" gives teachers a focused space to write without leaving the dashboard.

An integrated whiteboard tool built into the teacher's workspace. We designed the whiteboard flow, view whiteboard form, and add whiteboard form panels to feel like a natural extension of lesson planning rather than a separate tool.

A full calendar view alongside the dashboard, with an Add/Edit Event flow that connects scheduling to the broader teaching week. Designed to complement the daily and weekly views without duplicating them.
